It’s time to stand up to the corruption and mismanagement in New Jersey Government.  If you really are sick and tired of your taxes going up then stand with me in opposition to Question #2 on the Ballot this November 8th.  Governor Christie wants you to vote yes in order to dedicate the gas tax to the Transportation Trust Fund.  That might sound like a good idea at first…but the minute you dig a little deeper you see the real scam that will hurt all of us in New Jersey.

The Daily Point Headers

Governor Christie and I had a tough conversation a couple months ago on my morning show.  He dismissed my question about the Transportation Trust Fund paying for a “light rail project”…essentially saying that the TTF money would only be allocated to the roads, provided the voters pass a constitutional amendment ensuring that.  Now it’s true that I mentioned Atlantic City specifically.  But instead of correcting my location info, he dismissed the idea of a light rail as essentially being absurd!  Then at Friday’s press conference, right before Jessica Nutt  asked the Senate President and Assembly Speaker about another “Midnight vote”, Steve Sweeney discussed the funding for new light rail projects.  Two light rails, Bergen-Hudson and Camden-Gloucester and a freight line. So because I had the location wrong, Governor Christie acted as if I pulled “rail projects” out of thin air for ratings!  Yes I had bad information about the location but it seems the worst was I had bad info on the number of projects.  The fact is that TTF money will be poured into not ONE but THREE projects completely unrelated to the roads.  How exactly are three rail projects related to the crumbling roads and bridges??

The Governor’s Answer?

The Daily Point Headers

For nearly seven years I’ve been a backer of New Jersey’s Governor, Chris Christie.  He’s been a strong advocate for the overburdened taxpayers in the Garden State and taken on battles that prior Governors were too weak or ineffective to tackle.  Until now.

NJ GOP vs Gas TaxIt’s been a busy week coming back from a few days away.  The Gas Tax battle rages on in Trenton and the politicians are getting agitated with the public’s lack of cooperation on new taxes.  As I’ve mentioned many times, the real problem is with the Republican caucus in the New Jersey General Assembly and the State Senate.  If the GOP stuck together and stood up for working and middle class New Jerseyans already suffering under the crushing weight of NJ’s current tax burden we might actually move NJ toward affordability.  We had two different positions taken from two GOP lawmakers on the show this week.

Christie SweeneyThis week two things happened that demonstrate without new leadership in Trenton our state will become increasingly unaffordable.  And that’s saying a lot considering we are already one of the highest tax burdened states in the nation.

The Republican Governor and Democratic Senate President met and discussed how to fund the Transportation Trust Fund. The didn’t find a mutually agreeable solution, but they agreed on one thing…the gas tax should be raised by $0.23.

Then in another blow to commuters and residents, the leader of the Republicans in the NJ Assembly, Jon Bramnick embraced the hike in the gas tax as a “strategic necessity“.

In “Trenton Speak” the phases “Strategic Necessity” and “Tax Fairness” means YOU will pay more to live and work here.  A lot more.

State Senator Jennifer Beck (R) New Jersey

Had a great conversation with New Jersey State Senator Jennifer Beck earlier today on the morning show.  It’s clear that she’s one of the few Jersey politicians who’s not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for her constituents.  Our conversation ranged from Atlantic City to the Gas Tax to whether she was considering a run for Governor.  Best part was that she was able to jump right into the conversation immediately as she walked in from the parking lot.  No delay, no break, just a real conversation about issues impacting you.
