Had a great opportunity this morning to have a conversation with Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian. He’s a thoughtful, intelligent leader committed to bringing his city out of the financial mess it’s current suffering through. The war of words in Trenton has been stepped up recently as Governor Christie pulled no punches regarding the bill to allow the state to takeover the operations and finances of Atlantic City. Going so far as to say that if Guardian were a CEO of a company the board would have him fired.
You never know what you’re gonna get when you bring a bear to the studio. Bailey the bear cub from Great Adventure was a hit on my morning radio show and on Chasing News. Although I did blog about the segment with the bear yesterday, I thought mentioning what happened last night on New Jersey 101.5’s “Ask The Governor” was worth another bear-related post.
Today’s blog is a little lighter…sort of…I brought in a very special guest to the radio show this morning. Bailey the bear cub from Great Adventure joined me on set. Now not everyone was thrilled with the idea of having a bear on the radio…”You know this is radio right?” Was said on more than one occasion. But, I thought, people love animals, the bear is still a cub and we’ll live stream it on Facebook. It was either going to be the worst idea I’ve had in awhile, or the best. Why don’t you judge for yourself.
On Friday’s Chasing News, we showed clips from my interview with Grammy and Emmy-nominated comedian Margaret Cho.
And you can check out more of the interview from NJ101.5 here:
On last night’s Chasing News, we were joined by actor/comedian Carlo Bellario to discuss the latest in his ongoing legal troubles.
Bellario said the situation had been very hard for him, and he was at a loss for what to do. He recalled the story of his arrest. Carlo showed up at an independent film set in Woodbridge to shoot a scene in which he played a gunman. Carlo says he was handed a gun that he says was described by production staff as a prop gun. Middlesex County Prosecutors say that the gun was in fact a real and operational pellet gun, illegal by New Jersey State law. When residents witnessed the filming, they called police, and Carlo was arrested. It’s unknown whether the film producer had secured the permits to shoot.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said yesterday that there is no credible threat to New York City after simultaneous terrorist attacks were carried out at the Brussels airport and a subway Tuesday morning.
The attacks in Brussels come less than a week after the NJ Office of Homeland Security held a conference whose featured speakers included Chief Jarrod Burguan of the San Bernardino Police Department.
Burguan was in charge on Dec. 2, 2015, when two Islamic extremists staged a shooting at a county building, killing 14 people. On last night’s Chasing News, he told Chaser Alex Zdan about rushing to the scene and getting the first update from a detective about 30 minutes after the shooting occurred.
Western civilization is under attack. Islamic terrorism struck again early today with the massacre at the Brussels airport and metro station killing dozens of passengers and commuters.
As I said on the morning radio show, it’s clearly time to step up our security at our own airports throughout the US. The idea that the ticket counters and baggage claim areas are vulnerable leaves open the possibility of a similar attack in the US. On the positive side, law enforcement has been doing an outstanding job of keeping us safe. As of June 2015, American law enforcement has thwarted at least 69 Islamic terror plots since the attacks on September 11th.
