The Daily Point Headers

Yes, the muffin joke has become a staple of my morning show on NJ 101.5 FM…and it sometimes comes up on Chasing News…much to the chagrin of the Chasing team.

It’s gotten to the point where someone came up to me at a recent speech I delivered and had a pressing question before I went on, pulling me aside, asking me to explain the joke.  Oh boy.

In case you haven’t heard it, here it is:

Yes, it’s funny to me, and I think I’ve got the timing down.

The joke comes from comic Tommy Johnagin when I asked him whether people offer him material for his act.  He said of course!  And I learned a new term “Street Jokes”.  His favorite happened to be #TheMuffinJoke.  Which I love to tell and have incorporated it into my daily routine with both shows.

Today I told it to my comic guest, Joe Machi, after asking him if he’d heard it before. When he said no, I was happy to oblige.  He not only thought it was funny…he thought it was deep.

C’mon, the joke is gettin’ traction!

Have a great weekend.  On Monday I’ll be back talkin’ about the NJ gas tax and the battle to keep it from goin’ up.  Enjoy your weekend.

I used the muffin joke with great success back in January of 2007, I played the Baker in a Pennington Players production of “The Baker’s Wife” at the Kelsey Theatre of Mercer County Community College in West Windsor. In the middle of one of my songs, there was a break in the music. I asked the director if I could tell a joke there. He agreed, and I went searching for a funny, short joke that had to do with baking. I found the muffin joke, used it, and it was a hit for every performance! I’m so glad the joke has brought you success as well!
